Last night Julie and I flickered through Star Movies and found The Secret (2008) was gonna play. So we stayed tuned with the channel and waited for the movie to begin. It seemed like an interesting one so we watched it.

The movie was starred by David Duchovny (as Ben Marris the dad), Lili Taylor (as Hannah the mom) and Olivia Thirlby (as Sam the daughter) who are family with happily married parents and rebellious troubled daughter. One day the girls of Marris went on an accident and the mother died. In that instant moment when Hannah's hand taken away from Sam's due to her critical moment, Hannah passed away but it kept Sam alive.

So for the following days Hannah lived in Sam's body, trying to convince her husband that it's her in their daughter's body and meanwhile, try to understand Sam by living in her teenage life. The movie is complicated but also so great for mother/daughter stuff trying to understand each other. Unlike the happy Freaky Friday (recycle by Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis), the price here is one's life.

This is pretty much a thinking movie. Like Ghost (Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze) or Birth (Nicole Kidman), the movie about dead soul living in other's body in order to make things right before they really leave the earth. I think it can really happen in real life, especially when the dying one isn't ready to give up their lives here. The movie makes you think a lot (especially the awkward physical relationship between the husband/father with the mother in daughter's body but I think the critics like it) and I'm giving kudos to the movie and especially to Olivia Thirlby for playing the double role.
