A friend of mine just sent me the link for this image of him 'transforming' into a Balinese Barong. It's an art appreciation of what he had learned for the three months he spent in that Island of Gods. The image is the result of the exploration of design he did in Bali, so each of the tentacles/brain/other organs has its own meaning.
FYI, my fella designer Yasser Rizky is one eccentric graphic designer who contributes small part of his brilliant ideas to Versus Magazine. Now relax and enjoy the 'barong' image!!
[I somehow can not relax when I see it but hey, it's an art.. It doesn't have to meet your taste, it's only the creator's wild imagination. Lol.]
Lord forgive me for being such a fashionista. With fashionable people around me lately, I just can't help it. I've been blogwalking through some fashion blogs and one of them that stole my attention a lot is Jak and Jil and of course, etsy. And just last Monday I purchased my first online shopping shoes from Kimmy, today the package just arrived and I'm just so excited.
I bought a pair of jeans, too, last Monday at Hardware in Istana Plaza by courtesy of my dearest Ara. I needed jeans so bad my old one is now getting too big on me and kinda outdated. I needed another pair of skinny trousers since what I had was grey and not jeans and those were all I had to cover up my whole legs. So I needed a new one and got it.
I also donated some T-shirts for the victim of earthquake in Padang via 1 Langkah Kecil (see my previous post) and sent the money from the ATM. I hope the shirts will be done by next week.
Also to complete my huge passion about fashion this week, Jerry Aurum personally invited me to come to his new book "In My Room" launching tomorrow at Senayan City, Jakarta. I really very want to come because of:
- He is my friend who is so famous and important and fun to be with. Not to mention that he's so smart and friendly and open minded person.
- The event will be so huge it involved 100 famous Indonesian persons in their different fields of business and important people will be there.
- I just wanna see it my my very own eyes and give support to Jerry and his talented photography art.
But I do not think that I can come because of:
It's just that I want to go sooo bad I come into another dilemma now: difficult choices love to be around me a lot I really hate when I have to decide between two important things in my life. I still really really really want to go cuz this had been my dream, my life, and my passion to be in the circle of important people and being one of them.
- The event is in Jakarta so I need to leave the house for more than one day while a friend is staying over so I just can not leave the house for her to be alone.
- My boyfriend needs my company a lot to get thru the weekend and he'll just be lost without me I just can not abandon him that way.
But what can I say... having such a boyfriend that I just can't stand seeing him suffer. Maybe this is the cross of my life for choosing a person above all of the others and of course, nothing comes for free in this world. I just still wish to go... that's the least I can do for now.
A friend of mine has a great idea to donate something for the victims of the earthquake in Padang, Sumatra, Indonesia, by sending them our voices of love, hope and faith on a white shirt. It's easy to participate:
- Donate Rp 25,000.- for the purchase of one piece of white cotton shirt that will be send to the refugee of the earthquake. Transfer it to a BCA account: 39112 08669 by the name of Yohanes Sumera and confirm to +6281 38240 7852
- Send one prayer/support/message you want to be printed on the shirt in the Facebook Group of 1 Langkah Kecil's wall or at the confirmation to the mobile phone.
- As a proof, the shirt with your message printed on it will be photographed and will be sent to your personal email, and also be posted in the Facebook Group and the blog.
- Once in every two weeks the donation of shirts will be sent to West Sumatra via a trusted foundation in Jakarta. All the proof of shipping will be posted on the media (both on Facebook and blog.)
- There are no time limit for this donation because this rehabilitation program will always run. But the quicker the better because our friends out there need our help.
All of this will be a great help for humanity and I hope all of my blog readers here will help to donate as well. Thanks for all the kindness and only God will return your pure heart equitably.
My friend said this in her wedding yesterday: "... this is not a goodbye to the family. This is an effort to multiply the amount of members in the family..." and I was thinking about my own vision. And I decided I still hold on to my first ever principal in life. I do not want any of them around and these are whys:
- There are lots of orphanages out there and better to concentrate on give them hands than making new ones with an intend to waste them away,
- I am so not into bumping my stomach out, giving birth in any circumstances, take care of the poo-poo or breast them milk or raise them up for everyday in the rest of my life. Such a waste of time, energy, feeling and cause such damage of the body,
- I can't stand being around little kids for more than 2 hours or with a rebellious teenagers for their problems or with grown-ups for their ungraceful attitude to their parent,
- I had huge trouble growing up and I don't want to replay the moments anymore in my life. Once is just more than enough and I just love my life like this,
- I believe God will always take care of me and bless me even in the life without kids. I don't lose faith like people who are afraid of when they get old. Such stupid unnecessarily unfaithful thinking.
Now you say I am a hypocrite? You can say anything you like but for this one, I am unchangeable. I am so not gonna be bond with anything except for what I already have and I am suck with touchy-feely stuff people have with their kids. I am just so out of the frame of that one.
1. Propeller Island City Lodge, Berlin
Upside-down stay: At Berlin's Propeller Island City Lodge, each of the 30 rooms is weird in its own way. The artist-owner, Lars Stroschen, has seen to that. One room, the first built, is made to look like a brightly painted medieval town, with an ultra-mini golf course surrounding the castle bed. Another has furniture attached to the ceiling, another has coffins for beds, and still another has lion cages on stilts (the website claims that kids "love to sleep" in them). Then there's the Freedom Room, which resembles a prison, complete with a toilet next to the bed — oh, that German humor!
2. Hotel De Vrouwe Van Stavoren, the Netherlands
A place to unwine'd: When they were owned by a Swiss château, the four enormous casks on the grounds of the Hotel De Vrouwe Van Stavoren in the Netherlands held the equivalent of 19,333 bottles of wine. Now, after some creative recycling, it's guests rather than booze that mellow out inside the casks. The richly worn and airtight oak barrels have two narrow beds, with a small sitting area outside. The grounds are quite close to tiny Stavoren's harbor, which was a major port in the Middle Ages.
3. Hang Nga Guest House and Art Gallery, Vietnam
A bad trip (with none of the consequences): The daughter of Ho Chi Minh's number two masterminded the Hang Nga Guest House and Art Gallery in Dalat, Vietnam, a complex that more than earns its local nickname, the Crazy House. This LSD nightmare's three main buildings are Gaudi-esque concrete treehouse-like growths that appear as if they flowed organically out of the ground. Inside, the walls seem to dissolve into the floor, and right angles are avoided entirely. Each guest room is built around a different animal theme: the Eagle Room has a big-beaked bird standing atop a huge egg, while another has arm-sized ants crawling up the wall. The animal theme continues outside — a large giraffe statue on the property contains a teahouse, and human-size "spider webs" are set up here and there.
4. Jules' Undersea Lodge, Florida
In a league of its own: Hydrophobics should stay far from Jules' Undersea Lodge, named for novelist Jules Verne of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" fame. The 600-square-foot lodge, a former marine lab, is 21 feet underwater, close to the bottom of the mangrove-filled Emerald Lagoon, in Key Largo. You'll have to know how to scuba dive to reach your room, and guests without the mandatory certification must take a course at the hotel. Once you've reached the lodge, which sleeps up to six, you'll be close to angelfish, anemones, barracuda, oysters, and other creatures — each room is equipped with a 42-inch window, so you don't need to be suited up to keep an eye on the neighborhood.
5. Hotel Costa Verde, Costa Rica
Crash in a jet plane: Near a beach that's within Manuel Antonio National Park, the Hotel Costa Verde doesn't lack for great sights. But few are as amazing as its own 727 Fuselage Suite, a salvaged 1965 Boeing 727-100 that looks as if it's crashed into the Costa Rican jungle (it's actually mounted atop a 50-foot pillar and reached via a spiral staircase). The jet's interior was once able to hold up to 125 passengers, but there are few reminders left of its days in the service of South African Airways and Colombia's Avianca Airlines. The suite's two bedrooms, dining area, and sitting room are now covered over entirely in teak to match the surroundings. Guests can play "spot the toucan" on the small wood deck that sits on top of the right wing.
6. Capsule Hotel, the Netherlands
Your escape pod awaits: Colored bright-orange for easy visibility, the '70s-era escape pods that make up the Capsule Hotel once hung outside oil rigs, ready to be deployed in case of an evacuation. Recycled by self-proclaimed "garbage architect" Denis Oudendijk, the fleet of pods now rotates among different moorings in the Netherlands and elsewhere in Europe. At the moment, two are in the western Dutch town of Vlissingen and another is in The Hague. For a kind of James Bond-meets-Barbarella twist, opt to book your pod with a disco ball and all the spy's movies on DVD. It's a super-kitschy nod to a similar pod's appearance in "The Spy Who Loved Me."
7. Exploranter Overland Hotel, Brazil
On the road again: Imagine how much ground you could cover if you took your bed with you. That's the idea behind Exploranter Overland Hotel, a converted 25-ton truck that's a true hotel on wheels. An awning extends out from the truck's side to provide some al fresco shade at lunchtime. The "kitchen" comes tricked out with fridges, freezers, and a large convection oven — on this trip, the restaurant comes with you too, and sometimes nearby cooks are brought in to give guests a taste of the local cuisine. Your luggage and sleeping quarters are towed behind you, in a trailer that sleeps up to 24. With so much flexibility, guests can see Brazil's back country, far from crowds and sometimes any other people at all. The tours, which last from three days up to three months or more, have included horseback riding, vineyard tours, bird watching, and rodeos.
8. Grand Daddy Hotel, Cape Town
Where the penthouse is a trailer park: Cape Town's sleek Grand Daddy hotel has a surprise on its roof: a fleet of seven Airstream trailers, six of which were imported from the U.S. The aluminum-clad "rooms," which sleep two people, have been done in playful themes that incorporate icons like "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" (a blonde wig and a bear suit are available for dress-up), and John Lennon and Yoko Ono (the room's white-on-white furnishings include an enormous bed, natch). If you don't want to stray as far from the trailers' original looks, there's the Pleasantville model, an Eisenhower-era fantasia with chintz, harvest-gold curtains, and flower-covered throw pillows.

Today my best friend Beatrix got married with her long-last fiance, Julius. I couldn't go to the matrimony because my work was not done but as soon as my Mom got home, I took the car to go and finish the business by 2. Then I went to Muara to fetch Livia and went to the wedding venue.
We got in to Maxi's by around 3.30 but luckily the bride and groom just entered the garden, so we weren't too late. Ara came by his bike and we met up there. The party was nice and unique and I love the decoration they put (of course I do, they're purple!) and I met a lot of my friends there (yeah sure, cuz I went to the same school with the bride since the elementary to the high school and I go to her painting expos, too.)
She got some nice points the other weddings don't have. Below are whys the wedding is so unique and unforgettable:
And the receiver of the flower bouquet the bride threw was Liana (well it was Landry, her boyfriend, who caught it but it's just the same.) What a coincidence! So now we'll wait for the next wedding to come. Lol.
I came home by 6 but didn't get to take picture with my schoolmates cuz I was waiting for the picture from the photo booth to be printed but it was too long so I went home by the way. I love everything about this wedding and hope mine will be as great only more private. Just cross my fingers.. :)

She got some nice points the other weddings don't have. Below are whys the wedding is so unique and unforgettable:
- They made the garden party at 3 p.m. which is an unusual time to make a party here in Indonesia, with flat shoes and sunglasses as the dress codes.
- They gave the parents a painting of the parents' wedding photograph instead of a bite of the cake. What a wonderful gift!
- They danced over a "You Can't Hurry Love" by Diana Ross on the stage and made a good performance for the guests.
- They build a photo booth for guests to take self-portraits with lots of funky accessories which will make a good memory of the party and give away a sachet of black coffee with an old-schooled packaging of themselves drinking it. So Indonesian and unique.
- They give a contract of promise to the receiver of the flower bouquet a personal painting of the couple when they'll get married. Very creative!

Yesterday my cousin Caroline came to Bandung with Reza and her parents. She lives in Sydney for the last 13 years and this is her second visit home ever since. So after lunch at home I went with Ara and Julie to drop Ara off, then went to some shops for our stuff. After business done I met Livia in front of Aloy to take the invitation of Beatrix's wedding. Then we went to Unpar to meet up with my cousin.
We had dinner at Sariwangi, a small but famous hawker behind the campus. Then Reza, my uncle and my aunt went back to their Guest House while the girls went to PVJ. We showed the mall to my cousin and stopped for some coffee at Black Canyon where Ara joined us. We went home by around 9.30 p.m. and dropped my cousin off on the way.
Today I was supertired being on the road almost all the day. First, I had to fetch my brother at the travel shuttle station at 12 p.m. and brought him home to have lunch. After resting for a while (I took the spare time to do some work) I went again to fetch my Dad at the different travel station but before I had to drop my brother at the gamenet parlor.
Then together with my Dad we went to Rumah Mode to meet my cousin and her parents and also her partner. We started to eat by around 7.45 p.m. after browsing through the factory outlet and had some Indonesian food there. We finished by 9 and said goodbyes. I dropped my Dad off at home before had to pick up my both siblings so this had been a supertiring day for me. I hope tomorrow can be better :)
Nite all!!

How much trouble can a trauma cause you? Mine made me almost lose the one that I love. It was so horrible, how one bad thing that had happened in your life could stuck on your memory like a sticker.
I hate it. How the bad moment that happened for so many times in my past chose to stay deep in me while I thought I had vanished them away. But it didn't. Some wounds are harder to cure than the others. And that wound became hatred.
Someone (whose name shouldn't be said) in my past had hurt me so deep and for so many times it now made me so hard to deal with anything about possessiveness. I can become very sensitive about it, when someone forbids me (or sounds or seems like it) to hang out with new/unknown/lots of guy friends.
So when my love sounded suspicious about who I was going with tonight at Hyper Square, I subconsciously remembered the trauma and became sensitive. Then when he said a wrong word (in a wrong intonation, too) the fire was kindled and I didn't realize that my mind was replaying the trauma because all I could feel then was anger.
I really gotta forget it wholly and totally because I'm now in a new life with my future and I gotta remind myself how different my lover is with my past. He's an adorable young guy who just loves me so much he's so scares of losing me. I'm afraid to lose him, too. I just wanna hang out with friendsss (with many 's'es to show how 'many' they are) and it's just so my nature to love networking so much.
Oh God please take those trauma away cuz I really want to live peacefully with my lovely husband (-to-be) and I really don't want any single piece of the past go on with us. I've removed all of the pictures, contacts, and even the fb accounts. And now, my task is to erase all of the memory so the trauma will be gone as well. Oh Lord please help me with this..
I am currently reading the Book One of the Bartimaeus Trilogy: The Amulet of Samarkand. My sister has been owning the book from years ago and I've bought her the second one (and I believe, the third, too) but I'm still dealing with this supercool battle of genie versus wicked wizard and their other entities of magic in the up and downtown of London. I'm drowned in the war and so looking forward to know the end of it. This trilogy is so cool!
I went out of the house in the morning with Mom and Julie two days ago (it was Friday) and stopped by a food market to have early lunch. We tried this new place (not too new, but it's new for all of us) in Jl. Terusan Pasteur, just before the gas station before the BTC.
The place is like a food court, in a more simple way, but still is cozy with its wooden furniture and nice hanging lanterns and open space. I had a grilled ribs with superhot sauce that made me cried for its spicy chili. It's a highly recommended menu for those who love hot and spicy food. After that I had a 'free' hair spa at Anata and spent the rest of the day hanging out at Starbucks PVJ.

I think I'm the type of person who can really get anything that I want. Yesterday Ara promised me to watch Public Enemies movie but then he got supertired he couldn't get out of bed so I massaged him a foot reflexology, departed from our home by 6.18 p.m. and raced with the traffic jam to PVJ but finally we could make it before the movie started by 7 p.m. It was kinda miraculous how we could get there on time because of the traffic jam.
The day before Julie was sick so I was left at home with nothing to do. It was raining hard all day and make people just so lazy to get out of their lairs but I was feeling to get out. So I called Irma and asked her to go out with me and she said yes so I fetched her up and we went to Istana Plaza. It'd been almost 2 years I hadn't set foot on the mall but dunno why I felt a huge urge to go there that night.
I brought the strawberry pudding I'd made the night before for Irma and Ester, knowing that she and her big family were having a family photograph at the mall. Irma and I took some walk around the boutiques then after Ester was done we gathered at Honeymoon Dessert. To our surprise, Livia came to join us, too. It was 9 p.m. already and she said earlier she couldn't join. So it was quite a sudden reunion.
Not enough a surprise that night, Ara also came over to join us. The mall was closing by 10 p.m. so we all moved to Po Ka Tiam, except for Ester for having her son sleepy, to have a night porridge. Not long after, Yanto caught up with us; the members are the same with the last time we went here. We had a nice hot plain porridge with crispy pork there and stayed until almost 11 p.m. with stories.
It's so wonderful how God set everything just right for me. He gave me a perfect life, sent me a perfect man, and everything else just feels so good in my life. Always put Him at first place, and everything else will be given to you as well (Matthew 6:33.) God is good, He always know what we need before we can ever think about it. And my life is just so perfect. I can't stop rejoicing and praising Him for it all. I love my life and for that I thank You, Lord!
I was bored with my haircut but I want to grow it longer so I cut my bangs last night. Mom helped me finishing it and I think I look like Dora or some old fashioned little girl now. But I like it better it gave me a fresh look. LOL. Do you like it??
Oh, maybe another movie trailer for you (can't help it!) This one's a classic (who doesn't know the story?) but made by Tim Burton and has Johnny Depp in it so this is another must-see. Some more friends you'll meet in Wonderland are Anne Hathaway, Michael Sheen, Helena Bonham-Carter (of course) and Alan Rickman and Mia Wasikowska as Alice. So worth waiting for!
While browsing youtube, I found this trailer about the movie I've been waiting for. I've read the book by Alice Sebold and I think it's a lovely story about death on earth. So, I'm gonna share the trailer here if you're interested to watch it later on January 2010:
The stars are Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg and Susan Sarandon supporting Saoirse Ronan as Susie Salmon (Lovely Bones.) The movie's gonna be great! Just wait.

I watched half of this movie before, at a friend's house. It was on the cable. And after listening to my Mom's story few days ago, I remembered the movie and found it in youtube. I think the movie is very very nice. It tells us about heaven, reincarnation and love that made before our birth. Maybe the story is similar to mine--or to everyone in this earth. You really gotta check this out:
The movie explained how love at first sight happened. And how you could be so sure about someone, even without knowing too many things about them. Because the love was made in heaven. So beautiful!

I am currently at my apartment unit in West Jakarta with my Dad, Mom, and Julie. We arrived in Jakarta yesterday noon, together with Mom and Julie by car. We had a stop at A&W at Rest Area KM 67 and arrived in Jakarta by around 1 p.m. after less than 2 hours journey.
First stop: Plaza Senayan. We went right ahead to the place my Mom wanted to show us, le Marché de la Suisse. When we went inside it--wow--we were like entering a market in Swiss. It-was-so-good!
We ordered only ice apple tea cuz we were still full from our lunch and waited until Tante Rini (Mom's schoolmate) came. Then we went to Kinokuniya to browse for books.
Mom had another appointment to go so we moved to Senayan City. There, we hang out at Excelso and connected to the internet (via wi-fi) for a while. And then we had a little walk around the mall. We went to the Food Studio and had Pizza Bar for dinner. My aunt Lena and Hizkia came to join us by the time and we had a little chat there.
After dinner Julie and I took a walk to shops like Topshop, Promod, Miss Selfridge and Zara. Then we joined my Mom who were gone with Tante Rini to meet another friend in Portico. It was an astonishing fine dining restaurant with outdoor seats inside the Debenhams. Trés chic!
We went back to meet my aunt and Hizkia then the youth went with me and Julie to go around Jakarta. I took them driving to Kota Tua and Menteng area, just to show some part of the city to Julie. Then we went through Kuningan to Tebet area. Ara was staying at Harris Hotel and we went to see him.
We talked for less than 30 minutes at the lobby and it was already time for us to go home. We arrived at Hizkia's house by 12 p.m. and went straight to sleep after a glass of milk. It was such a tiring day..
Today I woke up by 9 a.m. Actually I had already woke up 4-5 hours earlier perhaps every ten minutes cuz the ayam bekisar (male hybrid between Green Junglefowl or Gallus varius rooster and domestic bankivoid game hens) my uncle has as pet next to the room was so noisy. I didn't have a good sleep and when I woke up, I got a cramp on my left leg.
After bath I had breakfast and by 10.30 a.m. we left the house to Sudirman boulevard. We went past the K.H. Mas Mansyur street and to our old apartment Sudirman Park to check out Mom's hairdresser but he wasn't there so we went to Plaza Indonesia.
We looked for macaroons and found one at Macaroon and another ones at Bakerzin. Then we had lunch at Sari Ratu before sweeping the mall again. Julie and I went to ak.'sa.ra and drowned in million books there for a while. We caught up with Mom and Tante Rini at eX and on our way to the car we stopped by at Pizza e Birra and had cups of tea there.
We felt enough by 4 p.m. and moved to Grand Indonesia by car. We went straight to Alun-Alun, then to Forever 21 where we spoiled our eyes there for almost an hour. We went out of the store with large shopping bag and wide smiles. Then we went to have dinner at Food Louver after Tante Rini left us. We had huge bowls of noodles from Laiker.
Julie and I went around the themed areas after meal and I took her first to Japanese, then Middle Eastern, Europe, China and New York. Then we had another walk to more boutiques and I bought some shirts at Zara for Ara. Then we went back to the apartment--here I am--and getting ready to go back to Bandung tonight. I lovvve going to malls and do some window shopping! Lol.
Trés chic!
