This is Mom and Tante Astrid, ready to go to a Javanese wedding party last Saturday. I didn't go with them, I just made sure Mom was doing great and took picture of them before they left. But hours later, I sneaked out and threw myself to a small party (that gone wild, I'll post about it next) with my girl friends at Erginn. Well, I think I'm gonna cherish these pictures cuz Mom looks really great on those!
I got these titles mostly from my sister, and watched the last one on HBO today. I say they are all great touching movies and I like all of them. The quirkiness of the first three is fantastic, and except for no.2 and no.3, they were based on novels. I highly recommend you guys to watch these!
1. Up In The Air
The movie is about the life of a motivation speaker who does a lot of traveling without burdens. His life is spent mostly on the air and airports that he doesn't have a 'real life'.
2. The Kids Are All Right
Ever imagine how a life with gay moms? These two kids wondered about their biological father, whose sperm was the donor to each of their moms. In the end of the day, it's still a family thing.
3. The Art Of Getting By
A kid was aware about the emptiness of life, that everybody will eventually be dead, and that's when he found a girl who change his perspective and began to enjoy life.
4. One Day
I personally love this movie for its tragic drama. Love between best friends over 20 years, this epic story is packaged in an unusual way, telling the love on only one specific day of each years.
5. Sundays at Tiffany's
There ain't no such a perfect guy, except in fairy tales... and your own imagination. But what if this special imaginary friend comes alive? Would you choose your 'real' fiancé or the one from your mind?

Got this image from facebook, but forgot who posted it. This really shouldn't be the guideline for you to choose a religion, but it's pretty much a fun way to classified all those spiritual thingy these days. Don't get offended, this is just for fun!
Oh, by the way, I was directed straightly to the boring generic Christian. Well, I guess I am. Lol.

This is one hilarious thing that keeps me and Maria laughing every time we remember it. So last week I went to Jakarta and got introduced to a guy, let's call him MK. So we danced at the club and he ended up driving me and Cheryl back to Winnie's place where we stayed over.
Last night, I told Maria about all of the story about this guy and showed her his picture I got from the BBM Contact List. Maria got all hysterically laughed when she saw him and there she went, blew up all of the story about him.
So this very same guy who was hitting on me last weekend was the same guy who tried to hook up with Maria but turned her down when they finally met. I mean, how on earth could a guy commenting on girl's acne and the salon she's having facial at? Is it really guy's business which salon she's going to? And what's with thin body and dark skin?
Really, should a girl get a whitening injection JUST for a guy who can not accept her the way she is?
I think this guy had hit the limit way too far and he sounds so ridiculous to me. If he doesn't want her, just leave. Bullshitting any girl with sweet words and woos on skype and commenting on physical matter when finally meet in flesh is certainly uncool.
Today, Maria twitted "I wonder wat u gonna do when u know tat a gal tat u were hitting on is my bff! Hahaha.. U r such a desperate player! Keep flirting around.." and he, whether it's incidentally or not (but we suspect it to be in purpose) twitted "I already knew, that's why I stop."
Okay, too much drama here now!
But then again, it's good that he knew. I could tolerate nothing more from that guy actually, after being too straightforward only a couple hours after we were being introduced to each other. I mean, come on, I wouldn't mind a kiss when there's a mutual feeling being shared. But stealing kisses from someone you just met who were drunk? Come on man, that's just low!
I am wondering if there are many guys like this one around. Makes the world a scarier place for girls like me and Maria--and many other single girls in this whole world, I believe. I just wish that this case would stop this MK guy from hitting on girls randomly, especially with that low kind of attitude he had shown to both me and Maria. Tho they were different actions, still it showed to us how pathetic he really is.
I am so glad he doesn't bothering me with any chat no more, being aware that he was not in a condition to do such things anymore, perhaps feeling stupid when he found out that Maria is my bestie. Well, I hope more boys are using their head and manners better, for this world is already lacking of men in number, leave alone gentlemen. Lol. I hope this guy gets the lesson well ;)

Friends come and go, and in 2011, I got Cheryl and Rachelle filled my days with laughter, and were by my side thru the hard days. For them two, I made this collage of friendship. Thanks to you, girls!
This is just a way I value and cherish our friendship, I hope I can give more in the future. I just love these two girls so much :) -xoxoxo

I think this artist, Ben Heine, is really talented. For I am never good at this, I think he's really good in quick sketching. Enjoy!
Nothing can ever make me dislike The Cranberries. I had been their big fan since my junior high years and now that they're making a new album, I'm instantly in love with Tomorrow. Here's what I made from some of the lyrics:
I think that you're mad,
You spend a lot of time in your head.
I know that you're mad,
You spend a lot of time in your head.
If you could come away with me,
You should come away with me,
You should have some faith in me.
Tomorrow could be too late,
I wish I could change the day.
Tomorrow could be too late,
If only you had some faith.
Too young, too proud, too foolish,
You spend a lot of time in your head.
I know that you're mad,
You spend a lot of time in your head.
If you could come away with me,
You should come away with me,
You should have some faith in me.
Tomorrow could be too late,
I wish I could change the day.
Tomorrow could be too late,
If only you had some faith.
Too young, too proud, too foolish,
Too young, too proud, too foolish.
You ask a lot of questions,
You have too much time on your hands.
To hell with conclusions,
Why should we make so many plans?
So should come away with me,
You should come away with me,
You should have some faith in me.
Tomorrow could be too late,
I wish I could change the day.
Tomorrow could be too late,
If only you had some faith.
Too young, too proud, too foolish,
Too young, too proud, too foolish.
So great,
I wish I could change the date.
Tomorrow could be so great,
If only you had some faith.
Tomorrow could be so great,
I wish I could change the date.
Tomorrow could be so great,
If only you had some faith.
You ask a lot of questions,
You have too much time on your hands.
To hell with conclusions,
Why should we make so many plans?
So should come away with me,
You should come away with me,
You should have some faith in me.
Tomorrow could be too late,
I wish I could change the day.
Tomorrow could be too late,
If only you had some faith.
Too young, too proud, too foolish,
Too young, too proud, too foolish.
So great,
I wish I could change the date.
Tomorrow could be so great,
If only you had some faith.
Tomorrow could be so great,
I wish I could change the date.
Tomorrow could be so great,

If anyone of you play The Sims Social in Facebook, you will know what I'm saying about "friendship level" here. I recently feel that I'm losing a close friend, who used to be my best friend along 2010-2011. I knew this was coming when my uncle foreseen it by his special ability of psychic stuff.
I felt this first when she started acting weirdly toward me, there were some bitterness in her words and I could feel that. Instead of telling it to my face, she pretends to be all okay but couldn't help stinging me by her words. She said yes, but holding a "no" behind my back. It's just fake.
I have so many friends during my 27 years on earth and I've dealt with all kinds of acquaintances, friends, good friends, close friends, BFFs, and I've dealt with awkward friends, sort of friends and ex-friends, too (they are terms used in The Sims Social). I have quite a sensitive sense about how people feel by their reaction around and toward me, so I can tell without seeing the friend level bar like in the game.
This ex-friend of mine, I can truly feel how it degrading from BFF down to awkward friend, especially by her choice of words. I can feel the insincerity in it, tho at first I spent too much time on evaluating myself: what did I do wrong, what was my fault, etc.
What troubled me more is that she has a group of friends who act quite weirdly toward me also--or maybe I'm being too cautious and suspicious here. I feel like I'm losing not just one, but a group of good friends. I feel rejected and casted away. Being a Piscean (super-sensitive and melodramatic) and a sanguine, it is such a big thing to me to lose a friend, let alone a group of it.
But, it doesn't matter anymore. The fact is, she is just not good enough to receive my attention and has not big enough heart to accept my friendship love. I still have so many other friends who want and value my presence, who deserve my caring and my love. I still have so much love to give out, so I just don't give a damn about people who doesn't want it. It's their problems, not mine, since I'm giving it all for free and sincerely.
I'm not calling this friend a fake. I'm just saying that she's being insincere to me. Sometimes feelings given aren't as much as feelings taken. Sometimes it's just not mutual... so what?
Like what is in relationships, we just need to get over with it, move on, and open heart for new (and for sure are better) people to come into our lives. I'm moving on ;)
I didn't make new year resolution last year, felt not as spirited as when Dad was still around and when I lived in Sudirman Park. So, I'm whipping myself to be more spirited today and make a new resolution for my self. Here it goes:
- Reach my dream 1: Go to Melbourne, Australia
- Reach my dream 2: Finish on my novel
- Take a postgraduate study abroad
- Get a steady job
- Live healthier life; eat healthier food
- Drink less beers
- Go to sleep before midnight
- Get up before 8 a.m.
- Exercise 3 times a week
- Be organized and self-discipline
- Donate and volunteer more
- Be a better person inside and out :)
I think the most important is the first four points, but then again, every other things are as important to support the first four. I hope I can do it all this year, unlike my lame 2011 that just passed. Hooray to 2012!

It is true that time heals. But sometimes, alcohol can help and fasten it. I go out at night time and drink alcohol the most in 2011 all my life. I went out and drink even more when I am in Bandung, knowing where to go with friendly faces in OJ's Tavern and Sapulidi and some other beer houses.
I know most people in Indonesia still think that it's a negative thing to do for a young woman like me, but I do enjoy my time surrounded by friends, knowing about another kind of life I've never been before, and meeting new fun people. This is like an adventure to me.
I see my progress of healing in my behavior during the drinking. When I first join the bar life here, I was as passive and timid as I was the last few years. But in time, I started to open up, thanks to Cheryl and Agatha who brought the fun and energetic spirit to my atmosphere.
I started to sing along out loud when there was music, then started to move my body by the rhythm months ago. Cheryl thought I must be drunk when she first saw me doing that--all I felt was "free". Now, I started to sing on the stage again, in front of many people, singing Fireworks out loud with Nadia at OJ's on Christmas night. Again, Cheryl was surprised and thought I must be heavily drunk.
Inside, I feel freer and freer each day. I followed Fia's advice to "leave things when they make me stressed" and just loosen up. I try not to be too serious and take things more lightly. I let go of the past. I forgive and forget. I fill myself with just things that make me smile and all positive energy. I sing out loud due to Patrick's advice months ago. I am a step further from my wound.
FYI, I used to sing on the stage in front of people at school events or simply at cafe where there is live music band playing. I used to sing all the time, until a friend told me that my voice isn't good enough. I stupidly listened to her and stopped singing. Just like that. And my voice got uglier than before.
Now, I feel that I gained my usual self back. I don't longer listen to an over possessive boyfriend, I don't longer care about what my friends tell me what to or not do, and I do only what I love to do with people I love to be with. And I have a much happier life. A livelier life. And I'm loving it.
Sometimes we listen to those who wanted to bring us down more than to those who support us. Sometimes we choose to linger on the negative thoughts because we're afraid to prove them wrong. We are scared to leave our comfort zone, afraid to step on the strange area we've never been at. We are scared to stand out and win. We feel it's better to be ordinary like the most people around us are.
We are basically cowards--until we are pushed to leave the zone. Why should we wait for the push? Why not pushing ourselves to the stage and declare to the world how we deserve to be on top? Why don't we just step up and show people that we are able?
Because we're all chicken, that's why...
... until we are cornered and life give us no other choice than to act.
I was one of those people who listen to other's and lived in such an uniformed life. I was forced to do whatever people around me are doing. I was told to be like the others, while I was not.
Now, I am taking my stage back. I am gonna rise and shine. I will prove that I am able, and am much more than an ordinary. I will get out of my comfort zone, no matter how many people will push me back to the crowd. I will take my stage back and sing out loud up there!

Why is it easier to listen to a complete stranger than believing the people we've known for ages? I've been telling my mom that I don't belong to this city, let alone the country. I need to go abroad, I have to go far away. I never belong to be in Bandung--Jakarta is much better but not good enough to be the best. Mom just realized it recently, believing it after hearing from some people who are called to be experts in some fields.
Second case is about my hobby. I always love to write and that I want to publish my own book. Guess what? After all my lifetime I've been telling her that, she started to take it seriously as a profession and business only by within a week after a consultant told her how good publishing books can do. Like she took it seriously about me going abroad--after I've been telling her since I was 10 years old--she just realized it now.
Oh-I-wanna-cry-hysterically-of-both-joy-and-stress!
Why now? Not ten-fifteen years earlier???
Things would've been much different if it was like that. I wouldn't waste too much of time feeling insecure like all these times. I really would be a much better person then.
I think it is true what an old saying in Indonesia said: Semut di seberang pulau kelihatan, gajah di pelupuk mata tidak (means: an ant in the next island is visible while an elephant in front of us isn't--oh well maybe not exactly this proverb, but more or less it explains). Sometimes, it's easier to trust those who have the title or profession or--most of time--the psychics than to listen to our own daughter.
Sometimes, we hear what they say, but not listening to it.
I've always known that I need to go away. Everything in Indonesia just don't suit every cell in my body. I just need to go out, and I told my parents for thousands of times, and they were forcing me to deal with the way whatever it was available than helping me to find ways to go and achieve what I said I need to do/where I had to be. That's why I always tell people how hard my life is--because I'm never in harmony with my surroundings. Everything in here are just against my true self, making it hard for me to live my days.
Maybe it's a common thing that a child's voice is usually not heard by the parents. No matter how loud we scream, they refuse to believe us, believing that they know the best things for us and we just want things that are too high to reach. I thought I had to bury that dream forever, after series of "not possible"s from Mom I needed to swallow all the years. Now, after I fell onto my lowest point that she started to listen to me, I am so not gonna waste another minute.
I'm so going outta here. Soon!
I just need to pursue what has been my biggest dream ever: to be a writer and to go abroad. I hope they will come true this year. Amen :)
I have a very special friend who has a shoes factory at his house so when I visited Periplus two days ago, I thought of giving him this book for his Christmas gift. I couldn't believe how cheap a book like this was, but it was end year sale, so I couldn't waste time to buy and give it to the lucky guy. It just feels so good to give something to someone. And I dunno why I love buying books so much. Lol.
P.S. I just love how Maria and I dressed up that night! :D
