This art consisted of 50 meters high laser-cut steel plates set into the landscape, representing the 50 years anniversary of when and where Mandela was captured and arrested 1962 (prior to his 27 years of incarceration).


Standing at a particular point (presumably at the spot where people are standing at the photo above), the columns come into a focus and the image of Mandela can be seen.


The sculptor is Mario Cianfanelli of Johannesburg. Brilliant, isn't it?
