I found this record of an interview by Bali TV with a young Balinese lecturer, Dr. Shri IGN Arya Wedakarna MWS III, who speaks about Nuswantara, Jangka Jayabaya, Sabdo Palon and Nayagenggong and its relation with the disasters in the country in the past 5 years, in accordance to what the Turangga Seta believes.

This guy mentioned that the true culture of Nuswantara (Indonesia) should be kept, like doing the ritual, ceremony and offerings to the ancestors and also to respect the ancestors, Batara-Batari, Dewa-Dewi and Dang Hyangs (gods, goddesses, deities) that are erased in the other religions, besides the Sang Hyang Widhi himself.

From the doctor's explanation, clearly there is a huge conspiracy on destroying Indonesia's true identity through many aspects since the coming of new religions into our nation, even until today. Original buildings were destructed, true teachings were deflected. We became a weak nation who lost its foundation and contact with the ancestors. Now we must be clever to sort which information is true.

So, I strongly suggest you, especially if you are Indonesian, to watch from minute 10:00 to the end to at least get to know of what the meaning of names I mentioned above, of who Indonesian ancestors were and who we really are. Yes, I am a fan of Sophie Ellis-Bextor's songs and earlier this year she released a new album, Wanderlust. Her songs makes me happy and the videos are just as cute as her voice. For the past year I had been learning about Indonesian culture and heritage more seriously than ever. It was because of the people I've met had led me to the ancestors. During that also, I had read about Pandawa Lima (Five Pandava princes) from Wayang (Indonesian puppet stories) of Mahabharata epic or known as Bharata Yudha (War of Bharata) and more about other local myths and tales.

These stories had taught me a lot about life, much more and differently than what I thought I knew about. With Hindu teachings and Indonesian true culture and heritage, I could see that people were expected to behave and do things with an attitude of a knight (in Indonesian, it is ksatriya). While what happens in the 'real' world, nobody is acting noble enough nowadays.

Men became more like jerks or even act like a pussy. Women lost their honor and elegance. The world has become so "modern" it has lost all of its original values. Everything became upside-down and inside-out; the wrongs became right and the rights became wrong. Due to the Jangka Jayabaya (let's call it as Indonesian Nostradamus' prophecy), these symptoms are leading to the Apocalypse.

As I study more about the culture in the ancestor's time, I learn that some of the teaching we believe in now is different, if I can't say it to be wrong. In the Nuswantaran (the name of the nation before it became Indonesia) time, people were mighty (master the magic). But apart from the magic, they all act as true knights, like the demeanor of the gods. Men were gentlemen. Women were graceful.

More than that, I learn that men respect women much more than they do now. Not that I'm thirsty of honor but they way men treat women now (especially in the east culture) is more like just an additional partner in their life, as servant at home or as sex slave. And the women accepted the situation and adapted to it. While other men fancy their own kind, and it is contagious.

The youth are busy with video games, sex and upset when they don't have any boyfriend/girlfriend. The generation before was into drugs and fights. They care only for themselves and their lust or madness. While those who become parents mostly don't understand how to teach and direct their children. The whole world is chaotic and full of sick people.

People had lost their virtue. They act and talk like animals, no more etiquette nor nobility in their actions. I think the problem is because we had lost our connection with the past. I know the past is history, but history is necessary to know about in order to know the nation's identity and pride. I never believed in Indonesia before, but since I know the greatness of the nation once was, I am now aware of who we really are, of what we are capable of and of where we must go next.

I want to suggest to all Indonesian to care more about this nation. Don't be just followers who re-post and re-path anything that is spreading in the social media. We all need to know more about this nation's true values, that we all can be more confident and more purposeful in our steps of action. If we know what we have to hold on to and to fight for, I believe Indonesia will be the most prominent nation in this whole world.

I got this article by Dr. Carmen Harra of a soulmate criteria and I know that no matter how long we wait, it will worth all the pain and longing we had before we meet our soulmate. Here are the points:

1. It's something inside. Describing how a soulmate makes you feel is difficult. It's a tenacious, profound and lingering emotion which no words can encompass.
2. Flashbacks. If your partner is your soulmate, chances are he or she has been present in your past lives. Soulmates often choose to come back together during the same lifetime and scope each other out in the big world. You might suddenly and briefly experience flashbacks of your soulmate. You might even feel an odd sense of déjà vu, as if the moment in time has already taken place, perhaps a long time ago, perhaps in a different setting.
3. You just get each other. Ever met two people who finsh each other's sentences? Some people call that spending too much time together, but I call it a soulmate connection. You might experience this with your best friend or your mother, but it is the telltale sign of a soulmate when you experience it with your partner.
4. You fall in love with his (or her) flaws. No relationship is perfect, and even soulmate relationships will experience ups and downs. Still, that bond will be much harder to break. I can feel all the points above with my partner and I am very grateful for experiencing this in my (quite young) age. After like a lifetime of suffering the almost-endless flu symptoms, I finally know the name of my problem. I thought it was an allergy, but my doctor cousin just told me that it is a vasomotor rhinitis or nonallergic rhinitis. The symptoms are chronic sneezing (which happened mostly during my high school years in Bandung) and/or stuffy/runny nose (also during my high school years until college) without any apparent cause.

These all got better when I moved to Jakarta that more humid than Bandung, and way better since I stayed in Bali. Sadly, no cure was found for this, for it is not an allergy non a disease. It's just a body 'defect', as I take it. All I can do for now is avoiding the triggers, such as pollen, drastic change of weather/temperature, dust, strong odors, smog like cigarette fume and any touch on my nose area.

According to Mayo Clinic, nonallergic rhinitis occurs when blood vessels in your nose expand (dilate), filling the nasal lining with blood and fluid. There are several possible causes of this abnormal expansion of the blood vessels or inflammation in the nose. But, whatever the trigger, the result is the same — swollen nasal membranes and congestion.

My doctor cousin and aunt suggested to take decongestant & antihistamine if the symptoms occur (which I already take Rhinnos SR as the best medicine for me). My cousin said I have to blow my nose regularly and rinse (sterilize) any of nasal passages, to humidify and hydrated myself. So I guess tropical beaches suit me more than mountains and snow. No wonder I never liked staying in Bandung!

It had been three days since Mr. Williams' death but I just got a moment with my laptop now. I was shocked, two mornings ago, to see a friends' IG post had his face and RIP thoughts on it. I checked the web and yes, he was dead, took out his own life out of depression. It was kind of shocking how he decided to end his life that way, I didn't think he was that kind of person. A media said it was because of money.

I never really know much about him, although I had known his movies almost my whole life, especially since my favorite childhood movies Hook and Mrs. Doubtfire. I love many more of his movies, but to see the scenes of him being sad was kind of a torture for me. I can't help seeing people being sad without feeling it myself. Maybe I have the ability of absorbing feelings, if I were a mutant.

Robin Williams had always had a glimpse of father figure for me. His loving heart, wise and witty side, and some facial characters really reminded me of my own late father. It's simply tragic to know that someone who makes us laugh is someone who actually is crying inside. I know life is hard, much harder than what we expected it would be, but I think suicide is never a way out.

Still, he had accompanied many generations to grow old with him as Peter Pan, talented Mrs. Doubtfire, blue Genie, 200 years old robot-becoming-man, thief master Wizard, Teddy the Wax President and many other characters he had been. He had entertained us well, too bad that the reality didn't treat him as well. I really wish the best for his resting soul.

A friend gave me this big full color comic book created by a Balinese guy, Ary Wicahyana. "Baladeva" is a name of Lord Kresna's brother in both Indian and Javanese epic story. But this comic centers on Kebo Parang, a huge knight who fought a white tiger and continuing his journey becoming a balaraksa (special force) for Medang Kingdom with Balinese scene as background.

This comic is written in English and has beautiful colored images, although there are some minor weird proportions on the figures. The paper used is a high quality one and the book is almost the size of my 13" MacBook. It's pretty interesting to read an epic in a comic this big, so I say it's worth a read!

I went to Kalibata City Square for a meeting and got time for some mall-sweeping so I went around and found out that this mall, hidden underneath the many of high-rise apartment buildings, has almost anything, from open-space food court, restaurants and cafes to supermarket, gadgets, fashion, sport equipments, and even a bag maker in small kiosk!


Another fantastic thing I found was a book store that sells the kinds of books that I was looking for. I couldn't find this one book of Nibiru & Kesatria Atlantis anywhere else for more than a year now and look, there it was, piled up for sale here. I bought another three of Javanese language and traditional clothing here before I chilled at a coffee shop.


Overall, I like to have my coffee break at Kedai Kopi Phoenam, just around the main entrance to the underground mall at the open space. Besides the coffee, it serves one of the best fried rices I love (try the original fried rice and spicy cakalang fried rice!) I never really expect to find such things in the area that I almost never touch my whole life, but yeah, life is full of surprises sometimes.

After Parijs Van Java (2005), I bought Remy Sylado's newest book, Malaikat Lereng Tidar. I don't feel I could copy his way of telling things for my own writing reference, but it's his uniqueness and I love reading his book for he always use rare words I never knew existed before and the rich information in all his writings. He is the master of authoring a full-research fiction novel based on Indonesian history. One of his books, Ca Bau Kan, was already on screen on 2002.

I met Oom Remy in person years ago, on 2003, when I was interested on theatrical play, directed by him. He is a very typical Holland-Manado guy with all white outfit up to belt and shoes. My parents knew him first from the church then I started to follow his theater activities for some time before I enter the interior design major in Bandung. I hope I could have another chance to meet him to discuss even much more interesting stuff about art, play and writings. He is one of Indonesia's greatest artists and I'm glad to both know him and read his pieces.

After a very long search since 2008, I finally found a perfect backpack that fits my taste of fashion and also functional for carrying a 13" laptop inside. It was on my casual walk to Teraskota that I saw the only one washed black canvas backpack displayed on the expo stall that sells man's shoes mostly, waiting for me to grab it home. I didn't think twice to buy it, and seriously, IDR 295,000 is a cheap price for this kind of backpack. I'm so happy about it!

Today I, my brother, sister and cousin went to a dermatologist, dr. Kun, at Senayan area. We had to take our queue number from 8 a.m. then come back for consultation/treatment at 11.30 a.m. We came at 12.30 p.m. today and met the friendly and brilliant dr. Kun. He explained all the misleads about skin problems.

After 15 years of having acne on my face, I finally know the main reason of having it. It's genetic. Not hormonal but genetic--sometimes hormones trigger the sebum production but everybody has hormones but not everyone has skin problem. So, the only way to heal it is by medical treatment.

There are some mistake on handling acne problems, and you must beware of it. Here are some tips:

1. Never touch, punch or burst any blackhead or pimple for it will leave a lifetime scar on skin.
2. Never do facial for it will only hurt and pierce your skin and cost you money for that.
3. Never trust any crap of Vitamin E or Chlorophyll can make skin problem get better.
4. Never trust such prohibition on eating certain kind of food to avoid acne.
5. Never lick your dry lips for it will only blacken it and makes the lips even dryer.
6. Never use cleansing foam with scrub on daily basis and when in treatment.
7. Never forget to apply sunblock when skin is being exposed to sun.
8. Pay attention to which doctoral title who takes care of your skin. Dermatologist is a SpKK.
9. Never blame any food such as peanuts, oily and spicy ones to cause pimples. It's the genes.
10. Drink more and more mineral water.

What makes this dermatologist special is that he doesn't recommend his patients to come often (check up in 4-6 months if necessary then not to come back if the skin already healed) or to do any facial treatment (which every other skin care center suggest us to do facial treatment every 3-4 weeks) and he frees us to consume any food we want.

And the price is very affordable. Consultation fee is IDR 250,000 and the medication ranged from IDR 40,000 - IDR 200,000, depends on our skin type. And the fact that the check ups are only 2x a year, it makes it so much cheaper than any other skin center in the town that I know. So, let's see in few months on my skin's healing progress. I'll update about this.

Ngobaran Beach, South Yogyakarta

I went to Yogyakarta (again!) last week with Timen Cheryl and other friends for some project we're working on. It was a 16-hours road trip from Jakarta-Yogya (we stopped for meals and quick breaks) and another 12-hours trip from Yogya-Serpong. We stayed over for 2 days and went around the keraton city and got many new experiences and made new friends during the trip.

I specially bought a pair of trekking shoes for this trip after just a night of quick online research. Luckily my cousin Ray who loves to mountain-trekking showed me the cheapest (and pretty much a complete) store in town for trekking equipments at Outdoor Station, between Mayestik and Taman Puring markets, South Jakarta. I got this beautiful pair for IDR 595,000 (about USD 50.9) and very happy about it. It's all comfortable, good-looking and not so expensive. Both of this brand and shop are highly recommended!

I came home from Yogyakarta at 10.30 a.m. on election day (July 9), had some breakfast and took a shower, then went on voting at 1 p.m. After that I had a full day with family, with all aunts and cousins: lunch at Holycow! and chilled at Mall @ Alam Sutera. I was exhausted but happy all the same. It all really worth the energy.

Yesterday, I met Rachelle for some catch up at Gandaria City--went there with my family and cousin Angel then she joined us. It had been more than 8 months since the last time I met Cheryl and about 3-4 months with Rachelle, so I feel so happy this week for meeting them both, tho in different occasions. It was a really fun shopping and chatting time for us. We chilled at the mall till 10 p.m.!

After all this time, I know that these two are my best friends who'll stay the same tho we're apart for some time. For the past month, I've met 3 of my best friends (met Julie last month in Yogya) and tho there were some reductions in the number of friends since the beginning of this year, at least I know now who my real friends are and who are the fake ones. I really am happy and feel blessed. Matur nuwun!

My aunt Lena's birthday was three days earlier but she celebrated it on my brother's birthday, on June 27th. Too bad he and my cousin Manuel couldn't make it to Jakarta so we should celebrate it without them. We went to Sarang Oci at Bulungan for the occasion and had our family's favorite Manadonese dinner feast there (FYI, their bakwan jagung is the best!)

After dinner, by Saphira's idea, we all headed to eX for the last time before it's gonna get tear down soon (the building was designed for a maximum 10 years use only). We had some bowling games at Spincity and it was really a great family bonding thing for all of us. Even Mom and Aunt Agnes had their throws. And I managed to smooth my throw after my disappointment game with my cousins last year.

Look, I'm gonna hit a strike! --Nah.

This really isn't an important post for you, but I had a great time that night, to have (almost) all the family gathering and having fun together, and it's not just cooking, eating and talking but to play some game we all like and enjoy about. I think it's more important to do stuff like this more than just gathering, because the fun is way different. It's the active and enjoyable fun, and it really brings the closeness in each of us. I suggest this kind of family game time for at least once in 1-2 months. What do you say?

My brother is on his approach to some Pisces girl and he asked me--being a Pisces and a sister--for guidance. While I think being with a Pisces girl is never that hard, but still my brother always finds difficulties when getting to know with Pisceans and this had been going on for many times now. He, being a Cancer, still cannot get what's in a Pisces mind and heart--while Pisces-Cancer should be a very compatible combination.

So I think maybe I have to post this for you guys who wants to be with a Pisces girl: don't worry, they will give you signs. Pisceans believe in love at first sight and (trust me) their intuition is super-sharp, therefore they'd know in just seconds whether it will be a lifetime of love and partnership or a lifetime of friendship. It's just either one.

You'll even know it on your first date--if not, the latest is on the third. If there's a flirting etc going on then it's a green light for you. If the conversation goes smooth, great and fun about everything but not about your relationship or about you personally, then you're already friend-zoned. And it's for a lifetime. So save your next moves and just be friends with her. We Pisceans are so great being friends with our opposite sex.

A Pisces is actually very easy to handle--by the right person. If you find difficulties on understanding a Pisces then you're not the right person for them because they will always give you hints about what's going on inside her mind, her heart, her world, even her fantasy. She is really that open, wide as books, only if you're the one they trust upon.

Pisceans really are romantic. They will send you songs according to what she feels/thinks about herself, you or your relationship. They will create poems, songs, short stories, artworks, buy you things... anything that could express her feelings toward you. If she never does any of the things above then don't waste your time. She is not a person who could fall in love in time. She falls at the hello and falls fast, but it's not gonna be a fast-ending story. Only, if ever she walks away there ain't gonna be a second chance. She's a keeper, as she also keeps her exs as friends. PS. Sometimes a Pisces could wait to be with you, too. When the situation isn't right at first time, she'll live her life till time decides for you to meet with her again.
