Another Victoria's Secrets

Here are some tips I learnt to apply to my room as I am decorating it:

1.  Put them off the floor. I don't like sweeping the room with stuff laying around, especially those that aren't furniture. So for broom and mop, I got this white plastic holder I bought at Ace Hardware that makes my floor free and also to keep the tips of sweeper last good longer.


2.  When you have quite some headband and don't know where to keep them, this can always be an option. I got this bamboo rack that has this small bamboo piece that is supporting the whole rack and I can put anything to it, including the headbands and also the S hook for smaller stuff.


3.  Belts and scarves can be tricky to keep, but I bought some S hooks and put them by my cupboard's edge. Luckily it isn't too thin yet thick enough to hold such weight. I found this quite helpful on organizing my things.


4.  Ladder can be another option to hang clothes or towel. I made this bamboo ladder finished with white washed paint and stand it against the wall, put some towels on it and ta-da... a piece of cute towel display on room!

5.  If you don't have dresser or chest drawer to put your underwear in, these woven plastic baskets are another unique idea. It is hygienic because it is made of plastic. It comes in bright fantastic colors and make a very nice addition to the room, especially when your furniture is all white.

I have been collecting slowly my furniture and other stuff and I am so happy that during this 6 months in Bali I have gathered these by myself, mostly are things I had never thought I'd buy--ever!

1.   Scooter. This is my first vehicle ever, and I am so proud riding on it around the island.


2.   Vespa helmet. Ain't no original, but I love the color and how it's fit to my head, also a match to my scooter.

There was time when my best friends and I call those jerks as "kambiang". It is Padangese for "goat". We used the name because "anjiang" (dog) sounds too harsh and this rhymes with it. So to all guys we don't have respect to, we call them "kambiang".

So all the way I moved to Bali doesn't mean I don't meet the kambiangs. I meet even more of them and worse. This one guy I knew from ex-housemates is a manager in one of the expat supermarket--means he is educated enough and also should be a decent man. He isn't. In fact he tried flirting with me, and even I had ignored him for months, he is just getting worse, until his words became intolerable to me. I stopped receiving his calls ever since.

Another guy came from a friend's friend. I already told my girl friend that I don't want to add any more guy friends. I could see how it'd end: another kambiang in my life. And I am right. It wasn't the friend who was introduced to me, but his friend. They are all trying to get to be with you no matter what. Even if he thought I have a boyfriend already. Perhaps even if I were married, too.

I completely can't understand those men, those who are committed especially. These two guys have already wife and child. These two guys should know that they are NOT available. And here they were, trying to get to me and terrorize me by texts and phone calls. I am truly annoyed.

The fact is, people have this thinking that everyone who is in Bali is in such fun mood. They come here to "have fun" in sexual way and think all guys and girls are just the same so they just try make a move for that. I do not. These kind of people make me disgusted and upset, more like disappointed, but hey that's the fact here. I just have to accept that fact tho it gets me further from believing in guys nowadays.

In times like this, I feel so tired for being alone in this island. Having a boyfriend or someone to lean on would be so much a comfort. But apparently I am alone, so I need to protect and comfort myself. I need to be tough and keep my address a secret to most of people. It's tiring, but then again it is the reality I am facing. I just need to deal with it.

Have you be grateful today?

There are many reasons people could be happy. Be in love, get lots of money, or simply being with friends. For me, my last weekend was one of my happiest moments.

1. I went to see Maria, my best friend since age 10, came from Jakarta with her colleagues; Edwin, Piter, Chaesa, Puput, and Puput's friend, Naya. We had lunch at Mbok Limbok, Dewi Sri, then headed to Benoa for water sport. I was sunbathing but I felt so contented.

After that we went to La Plancha to watch the perfect sunset and had dinner at Naughty Nuri's, Batu Belig. We said goodbye at 9 pm because I had to pack my stuff for the next day, and they were going to the club.

2. My ex-room mate, Anna, had found this newly built place with a very affordable rent price, just 500m from my old place, so both of us moved in last Sunday morning, having each new room which is twice bigger with air-con, kitchen, big bathroom and seat toilet.

3. Anna and I went to Carrefour and Ace Hardware on the same day, and I shopped for portable oven, a saucepan and pan, stepping stool and small rubbish bin for my new room.

4. I went to Potato Head for sunset with Maria, Chaesa, Puput and Naya. They were going home that very night so it was our last time to meet for some time. The best part was, when we were about to pay the bill, a gentleman from next table was offering to pay for us, just because Chaesa lend him a lighter. How lucky we were!

5. I am finally having my very own space, big enough for a "kost", a little more like studio apartment, and I have it filled with all the stuff I picked and bought myself. I got purple and tosca for my room color theme but can find only magenta and lime for my small kitchen. I am so proud of myself!
